Tow bars and bike carriers
Here we explain why you need to use a tow bar to carry bikes. We strongly believe it is the only safe and secure option which is also, unlike roof mounted systems, practical to use. The section includes information about the different types of towbar available.

Which MAXXRAXX for my car? How many bikes can I carry?
Select your vehicle make then the model to identify the correct MAXXRAXX bike rack for your car. This also identifies the maximum number of bikes you can carry based on the Nose Weight Rating of your specific vehicle.

Combining Towing and Carrying
The MAXXRAXX bike rack system includes cycle carriers that always leave the ball on your tow bar free for towing, even on most modern SwanNeck or gooseneck tow bars. As a result, it may be possible for you to tow and carry at the same time. This section provides guidance on the space restrictions and weight limitations which may affect the number of bikes you can carry with your specific combination of car and trailer.

Bikes
The MAXXRAXX bike rack supports and securely grips the top-beam of your bicycle. Almost all bikes are compatible with the MAXXRAXX system. However, certain bikes that have no top-tube such as full suspension Y-frame mountain bikes or "step through" ladies bikes (without a cross bar) may require an X-bar, available from our Accessories section. This enables a bike without a top-tube or cross-bar to be carried on the MAXXRAXX cycle carrier.

Adapting your rack
The MAXXRAXX cycle carrier system is a durable and very flexible product. Many of our customers have enjoyed more than 10 years of use from their rack. You can buy parts to adapt your rack if you change your vehicle, want to use your cycle carrier on a second car or want to carry more bikes. We also have a full range of spares available if required.
